1. OLED and LCD: two ways to make light
OLED pixels make their own light. Blacks are deep and colors are rich. LCD screens use a backlight. They cost less and can look a bit flatter. Your phone came with one or the other. Both types exist as replacement parts.
2. What "rebuilt" or "refurbished" means
A rebuilt screen is an original panel with new outer glass. It is not a third kind of screen. Ask what was kept and what was changed.
3. What can change with a new screen
- Brightness. Some low-cost parts are dimmer outdoors.
- Color and smoothness. An LCD in an OLED phone looks different. Some parts lose the smooth scrolling.
- Touch. Low-cost parts can miss taps near the edges.
- Battery life. An LCD in an OLED phone can use more power.
- iPhone notes. Some screens turn off True Tone or show an "Unknown Part" note in Settings. Apple explains it its note on the Unknown Part message.
4. Four questions to ask any shop
- Which part will you use: OLED, LCD or rebuilt?
- What will change: brightness, touch, True Tone?
- Will you test Face ID, the cameras and the sensors before and after?
- What is the total price, and what does the warranty cover?
We answer all four with your free quote. You pick the part. You hear the price before we start.
5. Face ID and sensors
Face ID lives in the sensors, not the glass. We test it before the repair and again after. If a sensor is already damaged, we tell you first. We cannot promise a new screen brings Face ID back.
Every screen we put in has a 60-day warranty. If we cannot fix it, you pay nothing.
