Good to know

On most phones the glass and the display are one part. So a small crack still means a new screen. Tape the crack until you come in. Cracks spread fast.

Screens come in more than one kind: OLED (richer color), LCD (costs less) or rebuilt (original panel, new glass). We show you the choices for your model. You pick. Read which screen goes in your phone.

We are an independent shop. Your data stays on the phone. Back it up anyway, just in case.

Screen repair questions

Can I wait while you replace my screen?

Usually, yes. Exotic District in East Oakland replaces popular phone screens in about 15 minutes, when the part is in stock. Call (510) 426-8167 with your model. We tell you if the part is in stock.

Can a small crack be fixed?

On most phones the glass and the display are one part. So a small crack still means a new screen. We check it for free and tell you.

Is it safe to keep using a cracked phone screen?

For a short time, if touch still works. Cracks spread, and dust and water get in through them. A screen protector or clear tape holds the glass together until you come in. Sharp edges can cut a finger, so cover them.

My screen is black but the phone rings. Is it the screen?

Often, yes. If it rings, vibrates or charges, the display is the likely problem. We test it first, so you don't pay for the wrong part.

Does a screen swap erase my data?

A screen swap does not touch your data. Back up your phone first anyway, just in case. Ask us if you need help with that.

Can I put my old screen protector back on?

No. It comes off with the broken glass and it will not stick again. Ask us for a new one at the counter before you leave.
